Over forty years of nonstop war in Sudan has resulted in thousands of displaced Sudanese
refugees. Many of these refugees have now settled in Southeastern Minnesota and face
considerable challenges associated with language, skill, and education.
New Sudan-American Hope (NSAH) was formed in 1999 by a concerned group of Sudanese
citizens living in Rochester, Minnesota. The founding members recognized the hardships
refugees face when settling in a new country and set out to aid Sudanese refugees with
various aspects of their relocation.
Almost a decade later and with members of diverse backgrounds, NSAH still aims to be a
source of assistance for new refugee arrivals in Rochester, Minnesota and to also be a
source of education about the aftermath of the war in Sudan.
